Meghan McCain detailed the “scare” of finding a lump in her breast this year and encouraged women to get their mammograms in a candid Instagram post she shared Monday.
“I had to get a mass in my breast biopsied last week and just got the news the test came back benign,” the media personality and journalist penned in a typed statement. “I can’t tell you how blessed, lucky and relieved I am but for any woman who follows this account or my work, PLEASE get your mammograms!!!”
She continued, “It is so important and vital and something I know a lot of us put off. I am 40 and this was a scare for me. Get your mammograms!!!”
“Doctors, nurses, pathologists, the mammogram coordinators, all of these people are nothing short of selfless angels who walk among us and I am forever grateful to every single health care professional.”
Concluding her cautionary post, McCain added, “Wishing you all a happy, blessed, HEALTHY New Year! 🙏🏻🙏🏻♥️♥️.”
McCain also encouraged women to get their annual Pap smears in the caption of her photo.
Her words resonated with followers and even encouraged Bob Saget’s widow, Kelly Rizzo, to reveal she had a “scary” double biopsy last year.
She added, “So happy you are all good, friend! Such a great relief going into the new year! 🙏🏼❤️.”
