ESPN kept making stunning ‘Bulldongs’ mistake during Fresno State bowl game

Somebody running the graphics for ESPN’s coverage of the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl was having a rough day.

The bowl game featured the Northern Illinois Huskies and the Fresno State Bulldogs, but on several occasions during the game, it seems Fresno State was given an unfortunate new nickname.

The score bug graphic had “Bulldongs” written instead of the team’s actual name.

One such instance, captured by Awful Announcing, occurred during the first quarter after Fresno State completed a four-play, 90-yard drive with 1:08 left in the quarter.

The moment was hard for college football fans to miss and they had a field day on social media over the graphic error.

“So when Georgia plays in the Sugar Bowl do we say “Bulldongs” also or shorten it to “Dawngs” #FresnoState,” one person joked online.

“Uh, @espn who are the BULLDONGS?” another person wrote.

“Ah yes the classic matchup between the Huskies and the Bulldongs,” another user on X chimed in.

“I need some Bulldongs gear immediately,” one person added.

To make the day even tougher for Fresno State fans, the Bulldogs lost in double overtime to the Huskies, 28-20, after blowing a 13-3 first-half lead.

Grayson Barnes made a 26-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter to cut Fresno State’s lead to three and then Northern Illinois kicker Kanon Woodill hit a 34-yard field goal to tie the game.

Barnes made his second TD catch of the game in overtime after Bryson Donelson briefly gave Fresno State the lead in the overtime period.

Dane Pardridge scored the game-winning touchdown for the Huskies and then they converted on a 2-point conversion.

Northern Illinois stopped Fresno State on four plays to seal the win in double OT.
