The details of David Murphey’s cause of death have been revealed.
The “90 Day’ fiancé” star reportedly passed away on Dec. 11 at 66 from heart-related problems.
A Clark County, Nevada, spokesperson told TMZ that cardiac arrhythmia and hypertensive cardiovascular disease contributed to Murphey’s sudden passing.
The reality TV personality allegedly had a history of pulmonary embolism, which occurs when a blood clot gets stuck in an artery in the lung and creates a blockage, per the Mayo Clinic.
Murphey’s death has reportedly been ruled a natural one.
His family announced his death earlier this week.
“We are deeply saddened to announce that David Murphey, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away at home on December 11, 2024 after experiencing health issues over the last several years. He was 66 years old,” they wrote in a touching post.
“He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and fans. David has survived by his two sisters and his cat Gamera. The family asked for privacy during this difficult time,” the statement continued.
Murphey’s family also noted his “fierce love for cats,” saying he “always made an effort to adopt cats and give them a good loving home.”
They asked his fans to donate to The Animal Foundation in his honor.
Murphey starred in Season 4 of “90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days” in 2020 with his lover Lana, who he met on a Ukrainian dating website. The spinoff follows couples who applied for or received a K-1 visa and have 90 days to tie the knot.
Murphey dated Lana online for years before meeting in person for the first time on the show; however, their relationship didn’t work out, and the two eventually broke up.
Murphey discussed the split on a 2022 episode of “90 Day Diaries.”
“She thought that, ‘Well, now that we’re engaged, now you can help me do the things that you promised,’ like, get her some English lessons, actually move her into an apartment,” Murphey shared.
“But part of my conditions for doing that was to get her off the [dating] website and she didn’t get off the websites, so I didn’t offer any of those bonuses, so four months into our engagement, we just stopped communicating.”
