Power outages affect thousands in West Island

At 5:16 p.m., Hydro-Québec reported 62,321 customers without power in the Montreal region, almost all of them in St-Laurent, Dorval, Pointe-Claire, Kirkland, Pierrefonds-Roxboro, Dollard-des-Ormeaux and Île-Bizard—Sainte-Geneviève.

There was no immediate word about the cause of the outage, but Hydro-Québec’s website lists “equipment failure” with service expected to resume around 5:45 p.m.
