College Football Playoff national championship odds, prediction: Georgia Bulldogs to emerge

It was a shocking College Football Playoff bracket that left Alabama out of the running for a national title.

Oregon and Georgia are your betting favorites (+350) as we head into the 12-team bracket, but it’s a tight race.

They are followed by Ohio State (+400) and Texas (+450), while Penn State, which received the best bracket placement of any team as the No. 6 seed, sits at +650 odds.

The Post’s Zach Braziller broke down why James Franklin and the Nittany Lions are under serious pressure, given their bracket slot to make a legitimate run to the national championship game.

College Football National Championship prediction

This may surprise some, but No. 10 Indiana is the best team in college football, according to Pro Football Focus’ rankings.

Now, we’re not expecting them to run the table here as touchdown underdogs to the Fighting Irish and then again with a tough quarterfinal matchup looming against the Georgia Bulldogs.

Despite the Hoosiers’ strong ranking by PFF’s models, facing them would the preferable draw for the SEC champions.

The betting markets are not aligned with PFF on Indiana, with the Hoosiers’ odds being tied for last.

It seems Georgia got quite a good draw, with the other three teams in the top four on the oddsboard all on Oregon’s side.

Betting on College Football?

Based on the oddsboards, Penn State, a team greatly flawed everywhere on offense besides quarterback, would be Georgia’s toughest opponent before the final.

Penn State considering has the lowest-graded offensive line of the remaining teams.

The only question is whether Carson Beck is going to be healthy enough for Georgia to make a run at the national championship.

Meanwhile, Oregon has a tough matchup set against either Ohio State or Tennessee in the second round and then a potential semifinal bout with texas.

That’s a tough road to the final, no matter how you shake it out.

Georgia is an excellent bet at +410 odds on FanDuel, although Las Vegas casino-goers could get better odds at +530 via Circa Sportsbook.

An eventual matchup with Georgia would be a terrible matchup for Penn State considering it has the lowest-graded offensive line of the remaining teams.

PICK: Georgia wins the national championship (+410, FanDuel)
