CBS News hires Jennifer Jacobs as senior White House reporter

Political journalist Jennifer Jacobs joined CBS News on Monday as a senior White House reporter, the network confirmed to The Post.

Jacobs is not replacing a former White House reporter, The Post has learned. While CBS News has a chief White House correspondent and two senior White House correspondents, Jacobs is the sole senior White House reporter, according to the network’s website.

She will contribute reporting and be a key member of the network’s White House unit, according to a memo sent to CBS News staffers obtained by The Post.

Jacobs worked as national political reporter and then a senior White House reporter at Bloomberg News for more than eight years. She started her career at Bloomberg in 2016 reporting on the last leg of the Obama administration.

Jacobs regularly broke news ahead of rival organizations, like her fall 2020 reporting that exposed the COVID-19 outbreak among Trump officials and Republican legislators, the CBS News memo said.

Prior to working at Bloomberg, Jacobs covered the presidential campaign as well as the Iowa legislature at The Des Moines Register for 12 years.

“Reporting what I know, not what I think,” Jacobs wrote in her bio on X.

Jacobs has received several accolades throughout her career, including the 34th annual Gerald R. Ford Journalism Prize in 2021 for her reporting on the presidency. She has also been honored by the National Press Club, Deadline Club, Annie E. Casey Foundation and her alma mater, Iowa State University.
