Malik Nabers is trending in the wrong direction as the Giants’ injuries keep mounting.
The Giants’ stud rookie receiver did not practice Friday with a hip flexor injury and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Saints.
The injury occurred during Thursday’s practice, after which the Giants listed him as a limited participant with a groin injury.
Nabers missed two games earlier this year due to a concussion.
He’s also been listed on various injury reports throughout the year with groin issues but has not yet missed a game for that reason.
If Nabers cannot play, it likely means Jalin Hyatt will be in line for more playing time.
Nabers has 75 catches for 740 yards and three receiving touchdowns — all team highs.
Chris Hubbard (knee) did not practice Friday and is questionable for Sunday’s game. He had not previously been on the injury report this week.
Deonte Banks (ribs), Bobby Okereke (back) and Rakeem Nunez-Roches (neck/shoulder) did not practice Friday and were ruled out.
Jermaine Eluemunor (quad) and D.J. Davidson (shoulder) are doubtful.
Jordon Riley was limited in practice and is questionable.
Tyler Nubin and Dane Belton should be able to play despite being on the injury report, head coach Brian Daboll said.
The Giants claimed cornerback/kick returner Dee Williams off waivers from the Seahawks.
Offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo did not exactly have glowing praise for Evan Neal.
For a player in his third season and who was drafted No. 7 overall in 2022, is he getting everything he wants out of Neal?
“I see a guy that’s only started four games at this point,” Bricillo said. “I’m sure there’s things to work on. I think we’ll just keep that with that. The premise of the question in that regard, to take such a far-away look at it like that, I concentrate on just getting through today. Tomorrow is promised to no one. We’re trying to get better today.”
Neal has started the last three games after seeing almost no action the beginning of the season as a reserve. He was a limited participant in practice Friday with a hip injury and is questionable for Sunday’s game.
Bricillo is in his first season with the team.
The Giants are down to just one captain still standing — long-snapper Casey Kreiter. Daboll said Friday he’d choose additional players to go out with him for the coin toss Sunday.
“Some of the guys that had some votes for captain earlier on in the season when they voted,” Daboll said. “Guys that maybe didn’t have as many votes as some of the other guys but have played a lot of football and that have been productive, whether it was on other teams or have been here for this year.”
