Montreal police arrest dangerous driving suspect

Police allege the 17-year-old injured an officer as he fled the scene by car.

Montreal police said Friday they have arrested a 17-year-old suspect in connection with a dangerous driving case in October that saw one police officer injured.

Police said the suspect was arrested at his home Dec. 4, and a search of his home yielded evidence for their investigation.

The suspect appeared on Dec. 5 in Youth Court to face charges of dangerous driving and armed assault. He remains in custody pending his next court appearance.

The arrest comes after an incident on Oct. 21 that saw police try to intercept a motorist who was driving dangerously. The driver refused to stop his vehicle until he was at the corner of St-Hubert and Jarry Sts. Officer exited their squad car to approach the suspect’s vehicle. However, the suspect fled the scene in the car, injuring an officer as he did so.

On Nov. 4, the suspect’s car was recovered on a public thoroughfare and towed away for examination.
