Tony Finau denies LIV Golf buzz after wild week of rumors and wife’s viral TikTok video

Tony Finau is “more than happy” on The Tour.

Days after internet rumors ran rampant about a possible deflection to rival LIV Golf, the six-time PGA Tour winner told Golfweek on Wednesday that he isn’t going anywhere.

“They’re not true,” the 35-year-old Finau said of the rumors. “I’m more than happy where I’m at on the PGA Tour and looking forward to 2025. When I tee it up in Maui, it will all go away, so, I don’t worry about it one bit.”

Antennas were raised earlier this week when Finau withdrew from the Hero World Challenge, which got underway Thursday.

Speculation then swirled Finau could be destined for LIV, the Saudi-backed circuit his good friend, Jon Rahm, moved to last December for a reported $350 million.

A Sunday report from The Mirror suggested Rahm, captain of LIV’s Legion XIII team, was eyeing Finau for a vacant spot on his squad.

Finau’s wife, Alayna, then entered the chat with a curious social media video.

In the clip, which was posted to her TikTok page this week, Alayna can be seen lounging by the pool while mouthing the soundbite, “My life is complicated enough, the last thing I need is more drama.”

When an article speculating about Finau and LIV appears on the screen, the voiceover continues, “Hello, drama.”

Finau elaborated on his decision to back out of the Hero World Challenge to Golf Week, which reported the world No. 26 underwent surgery in October to remove cartilage from his left knee and repair a torn meniscus.

“From what my doctor told me it was pretty standard clean up,” Finau told the publication. “He said it would be helpful and so I did it.”

Finau competed at the Presidents Cup in late September.

He and Alayna have been married since 2012 and share five kids.
