Prince Harry says life in the US with wife Meghan Markle and kids is ‘what my mom wanted for me’

Prince Harry has no regrets.

The Duke of Sussex, 40, opened up about his and wife Meghan Markle’s decision to pack up and move across the pond to the US after quitting royal life in 2020.

The exiled royal attended the New York Times’ DealBook conference in NYC on Wednesday, where he opened up about his life stateside.

“I enjoy living [in the US] and bringing my kids up here, it’s a part of my life that I never thought I was going to live and it feels as though it’s the life that my mom wanted for me,” Harry told host Andrew Sorkin of his late mother, Princess Diana.

As the runaway prince chatted to Sorkin in the Big Apple, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, attended a glitzy Beverly Hills gala with their friend Tyler Perry 2,789 miles away.

Harry also touched on their ongoing security concerns and opened up about how the pair were left with very minimal security after leaving the UK.

“I should’ve never had security removed in the first place,” he said. “But the disclosure process has been troubling and enlightening and I just have to now sit and wait until April.”

The father of two added that he aims to be “the best dad and best husband.”

“The reason why these things have happened is because of my 10 years in the military and the values and principles I live by,” he shared.

“It is becoming increasingly hard for people that have values and principles as the world starts to change. But the thing I want to be known for is that, ‘He stuck to his values and always stayed true to that principle.’”

Harry also set the record straight on the couple’s marriage after they were plagued with a slew of divorce rumors in recent weeks when they were seen appearing separately at professional engagements.

Dubbed a “professional separation,” the move was reportedly part of a new “twin-track” approach to resuscitate their image.

“Apparently we’ve bought or moved house 10, 12 times,” Harry quipped. “We’ve apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. So it’s just like, what?’”

“It’s hard to keep up with, but that’s why you just sort of ignore it. The people I feel most sorry about are the trolls,” he went on. “Their hopes are just built and built, and it’s like, ‘Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,’ and then it doesn’t happen. So I feel sorry for them. Genuinely, I do.”

The duke’s appearance comes three years after Markle took part in a conversation called “Minding the Gap” about how women can reach equal pay in November 2021.

Harry’s NYC trip comes just two months after he was last in NYC, having attended a string of events as part of the UN General Assembly High-level Week and Climate Week.
