Snow is complicating the search for Leo DuFour who never returned from a Saturday hike in the Adirondacks.
Snow is complicating the search for a Vaudreuil man who failed to return from a hike on a northern New York mountain Saturday, according to the state’s Department of Environmental Conservation.
“To date, ongoing search efforts have not yielded any results,” the agency said.
New York State Police say DuFour was reported missing around 11 p.m. on Saturday. Police say he had travelled to the U.S. the day before to hike Allen Mountain in the Adirondack range.
Police say they found his car, which was covered in snow, parked at a trailhead.
“Rangers located one set of tracks in the trail leading from the subject’s vehicle, but recent snowfall makes tracking difficult,” the DEC said.
The Allen Mountain hike is described as challenging on hiking websites.
Police say DuFour was wearing a black Arc Teryx Coat, black shell pants, a tan winter hat, a black backpack and reflective sunglasses. He stands about 5 feet 7 inches and weighs about 150 pounds. He has brown hair.
