Matty Healy threatens to ‘slap’ Azealia Banks ‘so hard’ over Charli XCX dig, immediately apologizes

Matty Healy got into an online spat with Azealia Banks after she dissed his bandmate George Daniel’s fiancée, Charli XCX.

The 1975 frontman took things a bit too far, however, when he threatened to physically assault the rapper.

Banks, 33, began the feud by writing via X Tuesday in part, “Charli used to be soooo pretty,” prompting Healy, 35, to write back, “Azealia you seem to have a blind spot when it comes to your ‘reads’.”

He continued, “All the women you attack seem to be culturally relevant, attractive, divisive and NICE people. I think this makes you jealous cos you’re so talented but everything else about you is a failure. Just rap bro.”

The “212” rapper hit back at Healy by trolling his fiancée, Gabbriette Bechtel, saying she “looks like Frankenstein,” and adding, “You both look like you share needles.”

A heated Healy then wrote in part in a since-deleted post via X, “Talk to me like that I’m not gonna side eye you at an awards do [sic] I’ll f–king slap you so hard I’ll get a Guinness world record for the highest a rat some bitch calls a wig has ever flown.”

After the shocking threat, Banks asked via X who “incriminates himself this way? Lmfao a man could slap the s–t out of Gabi and you wouldn’t do a damn thing. You’re too busy kissing men on stage for clout.”

Shortly after, Healy expressed regret for his words and took down the smack-talking post.

“Nah I can’t be saying I’m gonna hit a girl that’s insane I’m sorry. You just can’t keep being so mean about my mates and my mrs it’s really hurtful gets me well defensive,” the “Somebody Else” singer said on X.

He then added, “Ok I’m gonna delete that tweet that was not cool even if I was angry.”

Banks, however, did not accept the apology and instead called out Healy’s controversial past, including when he once admitted that he enjoyed watching porn videos that humiliate and brutalize women of color.

“How are you really hurt about what a bitch has to say about another when you’re okay saying you like watching porn with black women being brutalized? Are u really the n–a charles Xbox is hanging with? My point proven,” the “New Bottega” rapper wrote via X.

Banks then threatened to pursue legal action against the British-born musician, asking in a separate post, “Is Matty Healy In Los Angeles or London? I need to choose territory because I’ve had enough of n–s thinking my opinion is open season for them to threaten me.”

Banks and Healy’s beef stems back to May 2023, when the “Anna Wintour” rapper warned Taylor Swift not to date the “Happiness” singer.

“Taylor, this guy is gonna give you scabies. He’s not on the level of powerful p–s u worked HELLA Hard To build. Ugh, so many much cooler People in music to work with,” she wrote via Instagram at the time.

Swift, 34, did end up dating Healy briefly, but they split after just a month together, and the pop superstar moved on shortly after with Travis Kelce.

It’s unclear whether Healy was still holding a grudge from those remarks, but he appears to be wanting to stand down on any further vitriol, writing via X, “I’m just having fun with my friends on the computer :)”

Charli XCX, for her part, has stayed out of the online drama. Her rep did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
