Laine says he has a “big week coming up.”
Forward Joshua Roy was assigned to the Montreal Canadiens’ farm club on Monday.
The 21-year-old Quebecer has scored eight goals and had eight assists in 17 games this season with the Laval Rocket.
He has four goals and five assists in 27 career NHL games, all with the Habs.
Roy was selected in the fifth round, 150th overall, by the Canadiens at the 2021 NHL Draft.
Laine was acquired from the Columbus Blue Jackets on Aug. 19 in exchange for defenceman Jordan Harris and a second-round pick in the 2026 NHL draft.
The Canadians play Tuesday evening at the Bell Centre against the New York Islanders.
