SAQ union recommends approving deal with 19.7% salary increase over six years

The 5,000 union members will vote on the deal in principle next week.

In a document sent by the union to its members on Friday, it says agreement provides for a salary increase of 19.7 per cent over the next six years. If adopted, the agreement will also facilitate access to the group insurance plan for part-time employees or even better access to promotional positions.

The document also explains that the agreement in principle will prevent the employer from eliminating more than 30 positions per year.

Union members have been without a collective agreement since March 2023. Since then, five days of strikes have taken place to put pressure on management.
