DEI is losing ground, but it won’t be extinct until liberals blame it on Trump

The racist nonsense known as “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” looks to be losing everywhere — but don’t count it out until progressive Democrats start claiming they were never really for it.

DEI’s latest defeat comes at Walmart, the nation’s No. 1 employer.

After coming into the crosshairs of woke-busting activist Robby Starbuck, the retail giant has admitted it’s been making big changes to its DEI initiatives.

Starbuck has called out companies like John Deere, Harley Davidson, Caterpillar and Ford Motors and gotten results.

But Walmart’s a different beast altogether.

It has the economic might to tell any critic, woke or otherwise, to go pound sand.

Except when Starbuck called the company out, its muckamucks did the opposite.

Per Starbuck, “We had productive conversations to find solutions.”

Because Walmart had already been moving away from woke.

It’s not going to be marketing trangender products like chest binders to kids any more.

And it will not be extending its five-year spend on a creepy “Racial Equity Center” first set up in 2020, during the height of DEI fever.

It’s also ending its participation (along with John Deere and other companies) in the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index, a blacklist generated by HRC to extort concessions from corporations.

Gee, wonder why?

Could it be because people just want to buy a new lawnmower or a box of Tide pods without getting a lecture on privilege from some wet-behind-the-ears Ivy Leaguer?

It’s not rocket science.

Adopting insane, divisive political stances will alienate huge swathes of the American people from your company.

And ramming them down people’s throats will end up alienating them from each other.

That, of course, was the finding of a landmark study out from the Network Contagion Research Institute and the Social Perception Lab at Rutgers University last week: Pushing the “anti-racist” ideas of Ibram X.

Kendi and Robin DiAngelo on people only prompts them to see racism behind everything.

Yet it’s telling that The New York Times chose to spike its reporters’ work on that study: DEI and the larger left have pretty much conquered America’s elite cultural and academic institutions, media included — as well as the Democratic Party and any governments it controls.

The private sector may well shrug off DEI as rapidly as it embraced it back in 2020, but the left’s strongholds won’t give up so easily.

Just as with “defund the police” and open borders, don’t count DEI as truly a dead letter until the left-liberals who were so crucial to ramming it down our throats start pretending it really began as a Trump administration policy.
