SAQ and unionized workers reach agreement in principle for new contract

The union had held several daylong strikes over the spring and fall to protest against stalled contract talks.

An agreement in principle has been reached for a new contract between the Société des alcools du Québec and the union representing its store and office employees.

The details of the agreement are not being made public until they are shared with the union rank and file. The agreement is then expected to be examined by the union’s general council this week before being submitted next week to the 5,000 members.

The union had held several daylong strikes over the spring and fall to protest against stalled contract talks.

Salaries were an issue, as were access to full-time jobs and group insurance.
