Man in wheelchair fends off feral hog attack with airsoft gun: ‘Fixing to mow me down’

A Texas man in a wheelchair said he fought off a feral hog with an airsoft gun after it charged at him and appeared to be “fixing to mow” him down.

Longtime Houston resident Carl White told KHOU 11 that dog, Moose, started barking to alert him to one of the wild animals, which have been terrorizing the area, even killing pets.

“I was sitting over in this spot and he was coming full speed, looking right at me and fixing to mow me down,” White told KHOU 11 about the attack earlier this month.

White, who only had an airsoft gun to defend himself, aimed an LED light on the top of the gun at the hog.

“But when I hit that light, it startled him and he turned a 180 right there, so close that I could smell him,” White said to the outlet.

When the hog turned around again, he fired several pellets at it with the replica weapon— saving him from the animal, which typically has two sharp tusks.

White said he and his neighbors are sick of the feral hogs in the neighborhood and have reported several sightings to authorities for all the damage they’ve caused to their property.

The gnarly creatures also pose several other risks to the neighborhood, such as destroying crops, uprooting landscapes, and spreading diseases, WIRED reported.

Texas officials have previously said the Lone Star state has the worst feral hog problem in the country.

White expressed gratitude for his dog, Moose, who was able to alert him in time.

“Just don’t get yourself in a position where you’re confronting or cornering them, because that’s when they really get nervous and come at you,” White said.

“But let them have an escape if they want to run away,” he advised others in a similar precarious showdown.
