St. John’s proves it has talent — and resiliency — to hang with anyone

NASSAU, Bahamas — On Thursday night, St. John’s showed its potential. A night later, it displayed its toughness. 

So far, this trip to the Bahamas has been equal parts entertaining and insightful. We are learning a lot about Rick Pitino’s 22nd-ranked Johnnies with a matchup on deck against Georgia on Sunday to cap this challenging stretch of three games in four days. 

Almost immediately after St. John’s fell in heartbreaking fashion to No. 13 Baylor on Jeremy Roach’s buzzer-beating 3-pointer to end double overtime Thursday, Red Storm fans went ballistic on social media.

They crushed their team’s awful luck, bemoaning its inability to close out a game. Fans here walked around the Grand Hyatt with their heads down, their shoulders sagged, like the season was already headed in the wrong direction.
