Guillaume Nobert, 36, of St-Lazare is also accused of involvement in the abduction and false imprisonment of three individuals earlier this year.
Quebec provincial police are seeking public assistance in locating a man wanted in connection with the death of Kevin Mirshahi, a cryptocurrency influencer.
The Sûreté du Québec said in a press release they are searching for Guillaume Nobert, 36, of St-Lazare. Nobert is also accused of involvement in the abduction and false imprisonment of three individuals earlier this year.
The SQ describes Nobert as 5 feet 8 inches tall (1.72 metres), weighing 245 pounds (110 kilograms), with black hair and black eyes.
The investigation began on June 21 when Mirshahi and three others were abducted from an apartment in Old Montreal. While the three others were found hours later, Mirshahi remained missing. The case was later transferred from Montreal police to the SQ, which took over the search for the 34-year-old influencer.
Mirshahi’s connection to Crypto Paradise Island, a private investment group he founded, brought public attention to the case.
The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) had been investigating Mirshahi and his company since 2021, imposing bans on securities transactions and financial advising due to alleged regulatory breaches.
His body was found on Oct. 30 in Île-de-la-Visitation Park. The SQ has since arrested three individuals in connection with the case, including a 32-year-old woman charged with first-degree murder and two others accused of being accessories after the fact.
On Thursday, Joanie Lepage of Les Cèdres — the first person arrested as a suspect in Mirshahi’s murder — requested bail, maintaining she had no involvement in his death.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information on Nobert’s whereabouts to call 911 or provide anonymous tips to the SQ’s Centrale de l’information criminelle at 1-800-659-4264.
