Cyber attack targets borough operations of Montreal North

Services are being maintained, with the exception of the Yves-Ryan library access point and the borough’s permit counter.

An investigation is underway to determine the source of a cyber attack on the borough of Montreal North, it announced Thursday.

Operations have been affected since Monday, but most services are being maintained, with the exception of the Yves-Ryan library access point and the borough’s permit counter.

“The borough immediately reacted to contain the undesirable effects of this intrusion and ensure the continuity of services to the population,” it said in a post on Facebook.

In addition to filing a complaint with Montreal police, the borough hired a firm to investigate the source of the attack.

“With the support of this firm and the city, the specialized resources of the borough are mobilized with a view to returning all operations to normal as quickly as possible,” the borough said.

To ensure that it transmits reliable and verified information, (the borough) will not make any further statement on this subject before receiving the results of the ongoing investigation.”
