He was 15 years old when he caused a single-vehicle crash in the 4200 block of Taylor Street that killed his 16-year-old passenger in April.
A teen has pleaded guilty for causing a single-vehicle crash that killed a 16-year-old boy on Taylor Street earlier this year.
The teen sat in the gallery of Saskatoon youth court on Wednesday, accompanied by an adult. Through his lawyer, Ron Piché, he entered guilty pleas to dangerous driving causing bodily harm and death in connection with the fatal crash on April 14.
A pre-sentence report was ordered and sentencing was adjourned to Jan. 28.
The teen remains out of custody. His identity is protected under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act because he was 15 years old at the time of the offence.
Mateen Raazi, a member of the Islamic association’s media and outreach committee, said all of the teens are members of Saskatoon’s Muslim community.
“It’s just a heart-wrenching tragedy that has unfolded. Our thoughts and our prayers go out to the family of the deceased and those of the injured,” Raazi told the StarPhoenix shortly after the crash.
