The popular SUV is available in gasoline, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid variants, and fully loaded you can spend up to $61,945 on one
- The 2025 Toyota RAV4 will start at $33,555 in Canada, and top out at $61,945
- The popular SUV will once again see three different powertrains available
- What a menu! There will be 16 trims in total across the model range
If you’re looking for arcane pub-quiz trivia, there will be five trims of the gasser; eight of the hybrid; and three of the PHEV. Prices start at $33,555 for the base LE, and rise to $61,945 for a fully loaded plug-in hybrid. Amid this is a Woodland trim, shown here in green with 18-inch bronze TRD Off-Road wheels and a TRD-tuned suspension, offered only as a hybrid for $42,524. Prices are up across the board, but only nominally and largely in line with inflation.
The pure gasoline-powered trims pack a 2.5L four-cylinder engine good for 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, all routed through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the hybrid utilizes a gasser of the same description in concert with motor-generators and efficient storage batteries to make 219 ponies and 221 lb-ft of twist. A CVT is on duty here.
Finally, the PHEV also uses a 2.5L four-cylinder engine plus high-torque electric motors, but they work together to generate 302 horsepower. In the right conditions, that rig can travel about 65 clicks and at speeds up to 135 km/h without burning a drop of gasoline. This author’s own testing suggests a driving range of well over 900 kilometres on a full battery and full tank of fuel, meaning you’ll need to stop for fluids before the car does.
