MNA is at the centre of controversy for accusing the CAQ and PQ in the legislature of portraying “others” as dangerous or inferior.
The Québec solidaire congress being held this weekend continues to be shaken by the comments of MP Haroun Bouazzi on alleged racism in the National Assembly.
Eleven constituency associations will present an emergency proposal on Sunday afternoon.
It will ask the party to support Bouazzi and to denounce “the defamation campaign of which he is the object.”
Bouazzi is at the centre of controversy for accusing MNAs in the Coalition Avenir Québec and Parti Québécois of portraying “others” as dangerous or inferior.
His comments sparked an outcry and Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois and Ruba Ghazal had to call their colleague to order for his “clumsy, exaggerated and polarizing” statements.
The QS communications team indicated a second emergency proposal, which suggests distancing itself from Bouazzi’s comments, will also be debated at the congress.
