Firefighters worked through the night to put out the blaze in St-Georges.
A person was found lifeless in a residence engulfed by a fire Friday evening in St-Georges, in Beauce.
Earlier on Saturday, the Sûreté du Québec announced two men were missing.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the fire on 120th Ave. around 5 p.m.
“For the moment we are not able to confirm his identity,” said a spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), Élizabeth Marquis-Guy, in an interview Saturday afternoon. His identification will be carried out by the coroner.”
The two people who were missing were a 50-year-old and a 60-year-old.
According to the SQ spokesperson, the search continues for the other man.
Firefighters from the city of St-Georges continued to spray water on the rubble of the house for a good part of the night.
“An investigation is underway to determine the causes and circumstances of this fire. Investigators from the major crimes division of the Sûreté du Québec as well as fire scene technicians were on site this morning to continue assessing the scene,” Marquis-Guy said.
“The investigation has just begun, so we are not going to advance on the hypotheses (…) all the hypotheses are currently being considered,” indicated the spokesperson for the SQ.”
