Trump supporters denied FEMA aid: Letters to the Editor — Nov. 16, 2024

The Issue: Revelations that a FEMA employee allegedly blocked aid to Trump supporters.

Revelations that a FEMA employee acted in a biased manner against certain Americans should surprise no one (“FEMA Was Weaponized,” Editorial, Nov. 13).

The Democrats have been telegraphing their feelings for years, dating back to the Obama administration.

To Democrats, some supporters of President-elect Donald Trump are deplorables, clinging to guns and religion.

We have a government infected by the progressive left and its Dem enablers, who discriminate based on the color of your skin, your political affiliation, your religion and how much you have in your bank account.

Thankfully, with the re-election of Donald Trump, our long national nightmare will finally end.

This is one of the most reprehensibly immoral actions I’ve ever read about.

Merely firing the FEMA employee who issued this order isn’t sufficient.

Federal hate crime charges must be filed against her, and any FEMA staff who followed this directive need to be fired and charged with crimes, too.

“I was just obeying orders” just doesn’t cut it as an excuse.

These actions need to be punished.

After reading about FEMA officials’ reprehensible actions during the hurricane response in Florida, I can only hope the actions of Marn’i Washington result in federal hate-crime prosecution in addition to hundreds of millions of dollars of fines and a long imprisonment.

I can’t fathom how a human being would politicize such a tragic time and deny people much-needed help. I hope she believes in karma.

I don’t believe that top FEMA officials were horrified that workers were directed to avoid homes with Trump signs.

I suspect that FEMA was horrified that it got caught directing workers to avoid homes with Trump signs.

Are we really surprised that a FEMA worker was fired for skipping hurricane survivors living in pro-Trump homes?

The Issue: Mayor Adams signals willingness to cooperate with Trump administration.

Mayor Adams is in a quandary since the election of Donald Trump (“Hizzoner willing to help feds,” Nov. 13).

He is now trying to straddle the fence on his support for “sanctuary city” policies and his welcoming of migrants.

He did nothing previously to dissuade the more then 200,000 people flowing here, at a projected cost of billions to New York City taxpayers.

Adams is now seeking not to offend Trump, especially after he received empathy from him for his legal woes and pending trial.

And he certainly has to careful not to object to ICE operations within the city, where they were heretofore restricted.

So alert to the shift in power is the mayor, some are suggesting he’ll soon be wearing a MAGA hat himself.

Phil Serpico

Queens

Mayor Adams: Compassion and stupidity are not the same.

The taxpayers who have been struggling and paying for this nonsense are the ones burdened with debt, probably for many years down the road, too.

Do your job and take responsibility for your citizens.

We all know that you are effectively a lame-duck mayor.

Real change must wait until you either get bounced for your alleged criminal activity or the ax falls next election.
