Self-proclaimed “old” dad Hugh Grant has mixed feelings about his big brood.
The “Notting Hill” star, 64, admitted on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” Thursday that he experiences a lot of “dread” as a father of five.
“It’s noisy and it’s unbearable,” he admitted. “I do a lot of hiding in the loo. I do a lot of sleeping in there now.”
Grant joked that his little ones have “pretty much broken [the lock] now.”
The Golden Globe winner, however, clarified that it has been “nice” raising kids Tabitha, 13, and Felix, 11, with ex Tinglan Hong and John, 12, Lulu, 8, and Blue, 6, with wife Anna Eberstein.
“I’m going home tonight, and, you know, let’s face it, [I love] the bit where they jump in your arms,” he noted.
“The 6-year-old, she calls it her chimpanzee hug,” Grant continued. “I quite like that.”
The Emmy nominee, who had visibly teared up by this point in the interview, announced, “I’ve made myself cry!”
Grant often jokes about fatherhood, calling himself “too old” in a December 2023 conversation with People.
“I have no fun at all,” the “Love Actually” star quipped at the time. “I’m swamped in children.”
In November 2020, Grant told the Los Angeles Times that he survives from “hour to hour” as “an old man with very young children and a very exhausted wife.”
He clarified that becoming a parent took him from a “half-atrophied, middle-aged golfer [to] … a man with a life full of love.”
Before becoming a dad in 2011, Grant dated Elizabeth Hurley for 13 years.
The “Gossip Girl” alum, 59, joked about her ex’s parenting on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” in 2018, saying he has “gone up in scale” from “very miserable” to only “fairly miserable.”
Grant, notably, is one of the actress’s 22-year-old son Damian’s six godfathers.
