Tesla Cybertruck recalled for possible loss of power

This is the sixth recall for the Tesla Cybertruck (though that admittedly includes defects fixed via OTA update, like font size issues)

This time, the 2024 Tesla Cybertruck is being recalled due to a fault in the drive inverter. According to the Safety Recall Report, only 1% of the total recalled vehicles is expected to be affected. Those affected by the faulty drive inverter are at risk of not producing torque, meaning the vehicle could experience a loss of power while being driven. If this happens, there’s a higher risk of a crash.

The report also notes no warning signs of the issue or loss of propulsion. However, if the driver can not apply torque, the Cybertruck will send out a visual alert on the screen with instructions to safely pull over the vehicle to the side of the road.

U.S. Cybertruck owners with affected vehicles will be notified by mail advising them that Tesla service will replace the drive inverter, free of charge. Tesla’s number for this recall is SB-24-40-009.
