Christmas has come early for a memorable 00s pop star whose new festive film has just debuted as the new number one film on Netflix.

After becoming a mainstay of the UK music charts from 2001 to 2006, AM to PM hitmaker Christina Milian has swapped tunes for tinsel.

And 20 years later she looks virtually the same, leading the cast of Meet Me Next Christmas.

Since its release on November 6, it has been watched a huge 18,100,000 times and was officially crowned the current number one film globally on Netflix today.

The fresh-faced performer, 43, took to Instagram to celebrate the achievement, posting: ‘Because of you. Thank you for watching.’

The views were raked in during the movie’s first five days on the streaming platform after already surging to number one in the US and France just 24 hours after release.

Milian has been enjoying a successful acting career alongside her musical hits for years now.

With songs like When You Look At Me and Dip It Low, she was also appearing in films like Love Don’t Cost A Thing, Be Cool, Man of the House and taking the lead in Bring It On: Fight to the Finish.

In Meet Me Next Christmas, she plays Layla, a hopeless romantic on a quest to meet the man of her dreams as she races across New York City to find a ticket to a sold-out Pentatonix Christmas concert.

It’s also not the first time she’s starred in a Christmas movie, with one fan dubbing the star ‘the Mariah Carey of Christmas movies, all of them are good’ in the comments.

These include 2010’s Christmas Cupid with Chad Michael Murray, A Snow Globe Christmas in 2013 and Memories of Christmas in 2018.
