Bowen Yang apologizes to Ariana Grande for opening his mouth ‘too much’ during ‘SNL’ kiss

He’s kissing and… apologizing.

“Wicked” star Bowen Yang apologized to his co-star Ariana Grande for kissing her “too much” during a skit they collaborated on when she hosted “Saturday Night Live” on Oct. 12.

“I really have to apologize to you in person,” the actor, 34, said to Grande, 31, on Wednesday’s episode of his “Las Culturistas” podcast.

“I opened up my mouth too much when we kissed on ‘SNL.’”

Bowen Yang, seen on Wednesday’s episode of his “Las Culturistas” podcast, apologized to Ariana Grande for opening his mouth “too much” during their kiss in a “Saturday Night Life” skit in October.

“I really have to apologize to you in person,” he said.

“You absolutely did. I was shaking after,” she replied. “Not in a bad way. Just in a disarming way.”

Yang profusely apologized, but Grande assured him she had no ill feelings about the interaction.

“We were dropped in. It felt like what these people needed at that time,” she noted. “It felt like what these characters required. And I’m all for it.”

In the “SNL” skit, Yang played the boyfriend of the pop star’s son. After she applauded him for being the protective man her son needed, they kissed in a moment of pure passion.

“You absolutely did [open your mouth too much]. I was shaking after,” Grande replied.

While Yang apologized several times, the “Wicked” star, pictured on the “Las Culturistas” podcast Wednesday, said she was totally into it.

While appearing on “Las Culturistas,” the pair revealed the kiss was not originally in the script.

“When we rehearsed it, [I had] a little … thought in my head,” Grande recalled. “I didn’t say anything because I was like, ‘Everyone’s going to think I’m absolutely insane and too comfortable.’”

“But I was like, ‘How funny would it be if we kissed at the end?’”

“It felt like what these characters required,” she stated. “And I’m all for it.”

Yang, seen on his podcast Wednesday, and Grande also revealed the kiss was not in the original script.

Coincidentally, Yang — who described himself as “over-eager” — texted her later in the day and said he thought it would be hilarious for them to lock lips.

While further reflecting on the kissing ordeal, Grande decided she was “kidding” about Yang’s mouth being too open.

“For the characters, I think it was perfectly open,” she said.

Grande hosted “Saturday Night Live” for the second time in October. She first helmed the show in 2016.

Describing how she can pull off such a high-pressure gig, she said she finds “comfortability in getting to know everyone” on set.

“It just is a really safe and fun experience,” she added. “It’s so much fun and I think I just love comedy.”
