Angel Reese makes feelings on Sky’s Tyler Marsh hire clear after Teresa Weatherspoon uproar

Angel Reese has signaled approval for new Chicago Sky head coach Tyler Marsh.

The Sky fired Teresa Weatherspoon, who had a close relationship with Reese, earlier this offseason.

Marsh joins from the Las Vegas Aces, where he was an assistant for two WNBA championships.

Reese reacted to the hiring with a one-letter post on X on Saturday: “W.”

Several players on the Aces expressed envy to Reese that Marsh was now leading her team.

Sydney Colson wrote, “Excuse me?! We’re grieving, have some [expletive emoji] respect!”

To this, Reese responded, “Sorry but your time is UP. It’s our turn! I’ll send you some tissue tho sister girl unless you want to come join this side too.”

Alysha Clark also weighed in, writing, “Like give us a day. Dang.”

Reese was unapologetic, responding, “snatchiesssssss … sorry not sorry sis.”

During the rookie seasons of Reese and former South Carolina star Kamila Cardoso, the Sky had a promising start but the wheels fell off the wagon late in the season.

Reese suffered a season-ending wrist injury and Chennedy Carter missed a number of games due to injury and illness.

The Sky lost its final five games and 12 of its last 14, to finish a league-worst 13-27.

It had been unclear if Reese would buy into the future direction of the franchise given that she expressed significant dismay when Weatherspoon was let go.

“I can’t imagine playing for the Sky without [Spoon,]” Reese told the Chicago Sun-Times. “She’s the one reason I wanted to come here.”

She had previously indicated in a post on X that she was “heartbroken” by the dismissal.

“I’m literally lost for words knowing what this woman meant to me in such a pivotal point in my life,” Reese wrote in the immediate aftermath of Weatherspoon’s firing. “She was the only person that believed in me. The one that trusted me. Many don’t even know what it’s like to be a black women in sports when nobody believes in you.

“You had a tough job. All the crazy circumstances that we went through this year & when your back was against the wall, you always believed. I came to Chicago because of YOU. You were an unsung hero in my life. We built a relationship in a short amount of time that will last forever. I’ll never question God why he brings people in my life and takes them away from me in the capacity that I need them but I’ve always believed everyone is in your life for a reason and a season.

“You were the best reason & season. You didn’t deserve this but I can’t thank you enough. I love you Tspoon.”
