The Smashing Pumpkins singer, 57 — married to Chloe Mendel — shared the announcement on behalf of his wife in an Instagram post shortly after the accident.

According to Corgan’s post, his mother-in-law was at the tea and coffee shop having lunch with their son, Augustus Juppiter Corgan, 8, who was unharmed in the incident.

“This afternoon at Madame ZuZu’s, a car (in circumstances which remain under investigation), drove over the curb and into Madame ZuZu’s, crashing through the window and sadly injuring one person — my mother, Jenny; who was spending the day and lunching with my son Augustus,” Mendel’s statement shared by rocker explained.

“Thankfully, he was able to leap out of the way and was not injured,” it continued. “Our family is grateful for the swift assistance of the Highland Park and Deerfield first responders.”

Corgan’s tea shop, located at 1876 First Street, will remain closed until further notice.

Emergency responders arrived to the “Bullet With Butterfly Wings” singer business around noon after a red Mini Cooper plowed through the window.

The City of Highland Park shared an update on its social media, confirming that two were transported for treatment and stating that the incident was likely accidental.

“Two individuals, the driver of the vehicle and a patron of the restaurant, were transported for treatment. The preliminary investigation indicates that the incident was accidental. At this time, no additional information is available,” the city shared on Facebook.

The singer began dating Mendel in 2012; however, they only tied the knot last year.

Corgan popped the question to his longtime partner in September 2022 on her 30th birthday.

“The day finished with a wedding proposal,” Mendel’s announcement via Instagram at the time read. “Of course I said yes ❤️.”

Mendel is the co-founder and creative director for Maison Atia, a luxury outerwear brand. Corgan’s father-in-law is French atelier and designer Gilles Mendel, who is also the CEO of the family’s luxury fashion brand J. Mendel.

The Smashing Pumpkins lead singer and his wife share two children — son Augustus and daughter Philomena, 5 — and have another one on the way.

Corgan and Mendel recently revealed they are expecting baby No. 3.

“We are overjoyed to announce that our family is growing!” the soon-to-be mom of three told People in Aug. “It’s an exciting time for us, although unexpected!”

“While Augustus was overjoyed, Clementine, the younger of the two, asked if the baby was made already and shed a few tears of concern, which was honestly adorable,” the frontman shared.

“Now, both kids are beaming, and it makes it so much fun to share the joy of bringing more love into our family. We are truly blessed.”
