Like a boss, Salma Hayek wants to make her money.
The actress, 58, revealed she is motivated to earn her own income despite her husband François-Henri Pinault, whom she tied the knot with in 2009, having a billion-dollar family fortune.
“I support a lot of the aspects of my life and myself,” Hayek shared in an interview with WSJ. Magazine published on Tuesday.
“I have the pressure to make a certain amount of money,” she continued, “and I like it. And now, I decided, I want to make more.”
The “Frida” star explained that she and her husband keep their finances “separate” even though there’s “no prenuptial agreement dividing assets.”
In fact, the French businessman, 62, admires Hayek’s work ethic.
“I think he finds it kind of sexy,” she admitted.
The “House of Gucci” star also shared that she has several ideas for ventures to do alongside her and Pinault’s daughter Valentina, 17.
Hayek got candid on her upbringing as well, and per the outlet, she was born into wealth due to her father’s position as an oil executive. Her father ended up losing his fortune by the time she was in her 20s.
The Mexican-born actress decided to move to Los Angeles and became the breadwinner for her family back home.
“That’s when I became the best version of myself,” said Hayek.
After she married Pinault, who serves as the CEO of luxury retail group Kering, Hayek recalled people around her wanting to always discuss money and those who had money wanting to befriend her.
“To me, the excitement about having a lot of money was that I didn’t have to think about money, and it turned out all people wanted to talk to me about was money,” Hayek added. “Strangers coming to me that aren’t even friends, but they think we should be friends because they’re rich too.”
Hayek and Pinault celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary earlier this year, with the “Eternals” alum sharing a slew of pictures to Instagram.
“There are no words to explain the blessing of finding your soulmate,” she captioned the carousel. “For all of you who found it, never take it for granted For all of you who haven’t, never give up #tbt to one of the best days of my life.”
