A case of poor timing.
Jenna Dewan’s fiancé, Steve Kazee, denied shading her ex Channing Tatum’s breakup from Zoë Kravitz after going viral over his bizarre Instagram Story.
Shortly after the news broke Tuesday, Kazee posted the word “HAHA” written dozens of times atop a black screen — which he now claims was about a meme and not the pair’s split.
Kazee, 49, notably reposted a TikTok about failing to water houseplants right after uploading the laughing slide.
The funny video, in which he tagged Dewan, showed a dying plant with the caption, “The houseplant in my kitchen watching me put water in the coffee maker…”
Amid backlash over the laughing slide, the Tony winner took to his Instagram Story to clear the air.
“A guy can’t laugh about a houseplant TikTok in today’s world I see…” he wrote over a black screen Wednesday.
“See? It’s funny because it’s relatable,” he captioned a follow-up story, which showcased some of his thirsty plants. “Get a life.”
“The most damning part,” he wrote atop the final slide, showing a dying plant ironically placed right next to his water filter.
Kazee’s explanation coincides with what his reps told Page Six on Tuesday, insisting the Broadway star was simply poking fun at people who struggle to remember to water their plants — which is “something he’s notorious for at home.”
The eyebrow-raising post was shared just hours after People and TMZ confirmed Tatum, 44, and Kravitz, 35, had called it quits after three years together.
The reason for their split was not disclosed.
While it’s unclear exactly when the pair ended things, they seem to still be on good terms as they’re both set to star in the Zellner brothers’ new sci-fi comedy, “Alpha Gang.”
The exes met while working together on Kravtiz’s directorial debut, which came out in August.
The “She’s The Man” star popped the question in October 2023 with a massive 7-carat diamond ring.
However, the pair always played coy when asked about their wedding plans as Tatum was locked in a contentious divorce throughout nearly the entirety of their relationship.
Despite splitting in 2018, Tatum and Dewan found themselves in a years-long battle over the actor’s “Magic Mike” profits.
They didn’t finalize their split until September 2024 — one month before news of his most recent breakup.
Tatum and the “Rookie” star share an 11-year-old daughter, Everly.
Dewan, meanwhile, got engaged to Kazee in 2020. They are parents to son Callum, 4, and Rhiannon, 4 months.
