Jaime King’s ex-husband, Kyle Newman, claims actress was ‘strung out’ and ‘drunk’ with kids in her custody: report

Jaime King’s ex-husband, Kyle Newman, reportedly accused the actress of being “strung out” and “drunk” while their children — James Knight, 10, and Leo Thames, 8 – were in her custody.

“Kyle is dealing with a serious situation affecting the safety and well-being of his children and asks for privacy for his children during this difficult process,” Newman’s attorney, Garry M. Gekht, told Page Six in a statement on Tuesday.

Newman, 48, filed a petition in Los Angeles Superior Court on Oct. 23. He alleged that his children were in the custody of his ex on Oct. 17 when he received a call from them, per InTouch Weekly. The children were both crying and allegedly asked their dad to pick them up, the outlet reports.

Upon arrival, Newman allegedly found King, 45, sitting on the floor and appeared to “not be wearing any pants (or maybe had short shorts on),” the filing states. She was allegedly joined by two men.

“Jaime looked distressed, strung out and was acting drunk. She gestured for me to come over to her because she tried to get up but could not stand,” he stated in the court docs, per the outlet.

Newman claims that King was “slurring her words” and allegedly told him of their sons, “Those are bad boys. We have to do something about our boys. Their behavior is not right.”

He also reportedly claimed that his kids were dressed in the same clothing that they had worn to school the day before.

Newman then asked King if she had been drinking, to which she allegedly didn’t respond. He then left with the kids and eventually brought them to school where one child reported his mom’s behavior to a school therapist.

In the petition, Newman asked the judge to order King to stay away from the children. He also asked for sole physical custody of both kids and that King be allowed supervised visitation.

Newman also wants King to submit to drug and alcohol testing.

“The children are currently in danger when in their mother’s care. Jaime King is suffering from drug and alcohol addiction and is emotionally abusing and neglecting our children; placing them in danger and exposing them to many disturbing people and situations, including sexual content,” he claims in the filing.

“The children are begging me to help rescue them from the chaos in their mother’s home.”

Newman claims that his children are deeply disturbed by some of the comments their mother makes.

Not only does King allegedly smoke in the house without opening any windows or doors while her kids are present, per the filing, but she also allegedly told her sons that the American Cancer Society website is “propaganda” and blew smoke in their faces.

“Jaime apparently told [their son] that she wanted him to ‘come back in her womb and cuddle with her’ so she could be as close as possible to him. He is very disturbed by these comments,” he claimed.

“Our children are in grave danger if Jaime is to resume custody, as she continues to drive them while wholly under the influence, have strange men show up to the house and sends them to sleep in the boys rooms,” Newman claims in the filing. “The children are so petrified that they asked to speak to the judge so that they don’t have to go back to their mother’s house.”

He noted that King “loves [their] children” and he just wants her to “get help.”

“I am, however, unable to force her to get help and cannot allow our children to be in a constant state of danger and abuse as a result of Jaime’s addiction issues,” he wrote.

Newman continued, “Without strong orders, I am afraid that Jaime will continue to game the system — she has been sanctioned twice by two different judges in our family law matter and refuses to follow court orders, like the judgment that requires her to not be intoxicated when the children are in her custody.”

King filed to divorce Newman on May 18, 2020, after 13 years of marriage. At the time, she requested a partial restraining order related to child custody and visitation. The now-exes were subsequently embroiled in a nasty custody battle for two years until settling their divorce in September 2023.

King’s rep did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
