Yes, our own Stephanie Wallcraft even took home AJAC’s Canadian Automotive Journalist of the Year at the association’s event late October
These days, there are plenty of automotive websites you could turn to to get your new-car news, vehicle shopping advice, or deep-dive car-culture features, but if you want to read articles drafted by Canada’s best auto writers, you’re going to want to keep the URL in your browser there keyed in on Driving.ca.
Three of the four articles that earned her that distinction were published right on this site, and some of that same content also netted her a few other accolades from the AJAC event, too. That includes the 2024 Kal Tire Automotive Business Writing Award; and the 2024 Wakefield Castrol Award for Automotive Technical Topics. Wallcraft was also named runner-up for the 2024 Volvo Road Safety Journalism Award as well as for the 2024 Subaru Automotive Feature Writing Award.
AutoTrader.ca’s Jodi Lai took the runner-up spot for 2024 Canadian Automotive Journalist of the Year.
Of the Driving.ca staff in contention, it wasn’t just Wallcraft who left with something shiny to put on the mantle: long-time Driving writer Jil McIntosh also earned several awards, including the 2024 Mitsubishi Motors Adventure & Travel Writing Award; and runner-up to the Automotive Writing Award for Technical Topics that Wallcraft won.
The Adventure & Travel Writing Award runner-up was Driving.ca staffer Matthew Guy. And the Automotive Business Writing Award that Wallcraft won saw the runner-up title go to Driving.ca’s Nadine Filion. (We really had some of these categories properly sewn up, didn’t we?) Driving.ca Online Editor Elle Alder also went home with some AJAC-awarded hardware last night, too, specifically the 2024 Mazda Canada Photography Award.
Okay, that’s—five Driving contributors crowned some of the industry’s best this year? It’s a lot of accolades to keep track of. We’ll be updating this piece with more details once we finish sorting through this pile of awards.
