Cowboys owner Jerry Jones shared new details about the freak car accident his family was involved in before Dallas’ Week 8 matchup in San Francisco.
“It, [a rising barricade outside of Levi’s Stadium], busted all of the frame. Everything. It’s tremendous force, like a small explosion had gone off under there,” Jones said during his weekly radio appearance on “Shan & RJ” Tuesday.
Those in the car at the time of the accident included Jones’ daughter, Charlotte Jones Anderson, his son, Jerry Jones Jr., and Charlotte’s son, Shy Anderson Jr.
According to members of the Jones family, Charlotte was feared to have suffered a rib injury, and Jerry Jr., a head injury, per the Athletic.
The family members were reportedly evaluated by the Cowboys’ medical staff at the stadium and subsequently able to move to the visiting owners’ suite for the game.
On Tuesday, the Cowboys owner confirmed that Charlotte “wasn’t feeling as good as she hoped she would feel yesterday and today.”
Jerry Jr. was indeed concussed, Jones said, but “is feeling better.”
The Joneses can almost always be seen attending Cowboys’ games with the family patriarch, who has owned the franchise since 1989.
Managing the team has grown into a family business over the years, with Charlotte Jones serving as the Cowboys’ executive vice president and chief brand officer.
In December 2012, she was also appointed by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to serve as the chairperson for the NFL Foundation, making her the first female to lead the organization.
Jones Jr. also serves as an executive vice president of the Cowboys and currently holds the position of chief sales and marketing officers.
Both Charlotte and Jones Jr. — as well as Stephen Jones, the Cowboys’ chief operating officer — are co-owners of the franchise.
