Ian Somerhalder is not looking to return to the big screen anytime soon.
The “Vampire Diaries” alum, 45, and his wife, actress Nikki Reed, moved to a farm just outside of Los Angeles with their two children a few years ago — and they never looked back.
Speaking to People at the Environmental Media Association (EMA) Awards Gala on Saturday, the “Lost” alum was asked if he will be making a return to the entertainment industry.
“I think it’s in the rearview mirror. I do,” he said of his acting career.
“Well, I dunno, we got the rights back for V Wars, but I just don’t know how the hell we would ever make a TV show,” he added, referring to the one-season Netflix sci-fi thriller he and Reed starred in several years ago.”
“We’re building three companies at the same time, raising kids,” he added.
Somerhalder and the “Twilight” actress, who began dating in 2014 and tied the knot the following year, are parents to daughter Bodhi Soleil, 7, and a son, whose birth they announced in June 2023.
While he largely tends to keep his personal life private, Somerhalder opened up about his and Reed’s decision to leave Hollywood earlier this year.
“I loved what I did for a really long time,” Somerhalder told E! News of his decision to step away from acting. “I don’t miss any of it. I love making films, and I just did it for so long. We had an amazing run.”
“When you see the way that nature operates, you find compassion,” Reed, 36, chimed in.
“It’s a beautiful thing to see what’s happening with children, to watch them participate in the growing of their food and the understanding of what food is and where it comes from.”
In November 2023, the actor said his new lifestyle takes “a lot of work.”
“It’s unbelievable when you see these amazing creature life forms and how they all live on the farm together is really special,” he said at the time.
“We’re farm people, we produce most of our own food,” he added. “I live in my cowboy boots.”
Somerhalder, who quit Hollywood in 2019, described his new life as a farm manager as “our 2.0 version.”
