Alexander Webster led the Huskies — who earned 84 points — by placing 12th overall in the race with a time of 26:21.22 seconds and was followed closely by Quincy Fast in 13th.
Their efforts earned Webster and Fast spots as Canada West Second-Team All-Stars.
On the women’s side, Saskatchewan finished just off the podium in fourth place with 111 points.
Kaitlyn Harrison was the top Huskie, finishing fourth with a time of 30:00.47 to get a spot on the Canada West First All-Start team, while Jenica Swartz, with her 10th place finish, was on the Canada West Second-Team.
Also earning accolades at the championships were Kaiden Deck and Jaira Cross Child, who won the Student-Athlete Community Service Award for Male Competition and Female Competition, respectively.
SOCCER
The Huskie women’s playoff drive ended after a single game, following a 1-0 loss to the host Victoria Vikes on Saturday in the Canada West quarterfinals.
Goalkeeper Kalin Roberts put on an impressive showing for Saskatchewan, making seven saves, but Victoria was able to get one by her in the 74th minute to secure the victory and punch their ticket to the Canada West Final Four.
Earlier in the week, a pair of Huskies were recognized as Canada West Second-Team All Stars.
Fourth-year striker Alyssa D’Agnone had nine goals in the 2024-25 season, bringing her career total to 24, while third-year midfielder Nammi Nguyen helped the Huskies to allow the second-fewest goals in the Canada West.
HOCKEY
A 4-3 victory by the men’s team on Saturday against the visiting Mount Royal Cougars ended a three-game losing streak for the Huskies.
The teams were tied 2-2 heading into the third period, but Liam Keeler and Ashton Ferster both scored for Saskatchewan to give them the win.
Dawson Holt had the other two goals for the Dogs, while in net, Jordan Kooy made 34 saves on 37 shots.
The win helped avenge Saskatchewan’s 4-0 loss to the Cougars the night before.
In that game, the Huskies were outshot 34 to 20, with Shane Farkas picking up the shutout win for Mount Royal and Roddy Ross making 31 saves for Saskatchewan.
The weekend’s results have left the Dogs with a 5-3 record for 2nd in the Canada West East Division.
Meanwhile, the Saskatchewan women’s team is 0-8 following back-to-back losses against the host Cougars.
On Saturday, Bronwyn Boucher had the lone goal for the Huskies while Clara Juca stopped 20 of 24 shots in a 4-1 loss.
In their meeting on Friday, Saskatchewan’s Kahlen Wisener scored the first goal of the game 6:08 into the third period, but was then followed two-and-a-half minutes later by Jerzey Watteyne of the Cougars, tying the game and eventually sending it to overtime.

Saskatoon Blades win in OT against Wheat Kings
Ben Riche’s second goal of the game one minute and 37 seconds into overtime secured the 4-3 victory for the Saskatoon Blades over the host Brandon Wheat Kings on Friday night.
Thanks to goals from Riche, Tyler Parr and Brandon Lisowsky in the second period, the Blades led 3-2 entering the third period, but Brandon’s Jaxon Jacobson scored his second goal of the game 9:16 into the frame to tie the teams and eventually force overtime.
Evan Gardner made 34 saves on 37 shots in net for Saskatoon, while across the ice, Carson Bjarnson went 36 for 40.
The victory improves Saskatoon’s record to 10-2-1-0 on the season and first place in the Western Hockey League’s Eastern Conference.
The Blades are now on a one-week break before they resume action on Nov. 1 against the Vancouver Giants. The game will mark the first of a five-game B.C. road trip for Saskatoon that will conclude on Nov. 9 in Kamloops against the Blazers.
Holy Cross claims provincial titles
Holy Cross are the boys and girls’ 5A provincial soccer champions following victories on Saturday.
On the boys’ side, Holy Cross shutout Prince Albert St. Mary 2-0, while Centennial was defeated 2-1 by Regina O’Neill in the quarterfinals.
It was a closer game in girls’ action, but Holy Cross still came out with a 3-2 victory over Regina Winston Knoll, who earlier defeated Walter Murray 2-1 in quarterfinals.
In other results, Waldheim won 2-1 over Osler VA in boys’ 3A, while Osler VCA shutout Waldheim 4-0 to take the girls’ 3A title.
And in 4A, Yorkton Sacred Heart fell in both provincial finals, with Moose Jaw Central winning 3-1 on the boys’ side and Martensville winning 1-0 on the girls’.
Bishop Mahoney wins 5A football title
Bishop James Mahoney claimed the 5A football city championship after defeating Aden Bowman 42-6 on Thursday.
Also that night, in 6A semifinal results, St. Joseph won 44-6 over Walter Murray, while Holy Cross defeated Centennial 45-14.
The two victors will meet this week for the city final.
