Jameis Winston might have saved the Browns’ season.
Winston was brought in to start in the aftermath of Deshaun Watson’s season-ending Achilles tear and fired his team up with one of his pre-game speeches before taking on the Ravens, one of the favorites to come out of the AFC.
In the speech, Winston said, “Eyes have not seen, ears have not heard, what the Lord got for the Cleveland Browns!”
He continued, “We don’t have to see instant gratification! We don’t have to see something good happening for us! We gotta believe! We gotta have that unwavering faith, and I got that! You got one opportunity! You got one opportunity to make the most of it men, and I believe in my crew. Who win?”
And it aged well given his subsequent performance.
The Browns signal caller threw for 334 yards and three touchdowns in what was an upset victory against the Ravens.
Cleveland improved to 2-6 with the 29-24 victory.
Following the win, Winston also posted a link to an “Eat a W” shirt from his website, referencing another one of his famous pre-game speeches.
Winston, a former No. 1 overall pick, national champion and Heisman winner, joined the Browns after spending the previous four seasons with the Saints.
