The closure is necessary to prepare for the addition of a fourth lane, set to open by year’s end once bridge reinforcement is completed.
The Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge, connecting Senneville and Vaudreuil-Dorion along Highway 40, will be fully closed to traffic from Nov. 1 to Nov. 4 for lane reconfiguration work, Quebec’s ministry of transport announced on Monday.
The weekend closure is necessary to prepare for the addition of a fourth lane, set to open by year’s end once bridge reinforcement is completed.
The bridge will be closed from Friday, Nov. 1 at 11:59 p.m. until Monday, Nov. 4 at 5 a.m., affecting both directions on the A40:
-
- Westbound, between Exit 41 (Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue/Highway 20 westbound) and the entrance from Saint-Charles Ave. Access to Senneville Rd. will remain open.
- Eastbound, between Exit 35 (Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac/Vaudreuil-Dorion) and the entrance from Boulevard des Anciens-Combattants.
The ramp from the A40 to the bridge will be closed in the interchange with High 30. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes via Highways 20 and 30, with tolls waived on Highway 30 during the closure.
Detour signs will be posted, and people are encouraged to use public transportation to ease traffic congestion.
