For the first pitch, the Yankees are turning to No. 2.
Derek Jeter will throw out the ceremonial first pitch for the first World Series game in The Bronx in 15 years.
In what will be a star-studded few minutes on Monday night, Leslie Odom Jr. will sing the national anthem, followed by Jeter’s first pitch, followed by an on-field performance by Fat Joe — perhaps in response to the Dodgers asking Ice Cube for a brief concert ahead of Game 2 in Los Angeles.
For Tuesday’s Game 4, Paul O’Neill — another five-time World Series champion — will throw out the first pitch, and Ashanti will perform.
The Yankees, down 2-0 in the series, are counting on some luck from some of their icons. The last time they were in the World Series, Jeter was winning his fifth and final ring against the Phillies in 2009.
