He didn’t think he wanted this.
Kristen Bell and Adam Brody’s sizzling chemistry has been steaming up screens in the Netflix hit “Nobody Wants This,” and Bell’s real-life husband, Dax Shepard, was caught off guard.
Shepard, 49, was asked about his relationship with Bell, 44, during the New Yorker Festival on Saturday, Oct. 26.
When asked about their “chemistry,” Shepard said, “Not as good as her and Brody.”
The “Armchair Expert” podcast host added, “My friend … we watched that scene together, the kissing scene, which I’d argue is the very best kissing scene ever, ever put on film.”
“And my best friend, Aaron, from childhood, he goes, ‘Does she ever kiss you like that?’ No, I didn’t even know she could kiss like that,” he quipped.
The show, which has been renewed for Season 2, follows Joanne (Bell), an atheist podcaster, and Noah (Brody), a rabbi. As the couple fall in love, they wonder if they can make it work with their different lifestyles and backgrounds. Their relationship also faces obstacles in the form of skepticism of family and friends.
Millennials who first fell for Brody’s charms playing the nerdy Seth in “The O.C.” have been flocking to “Nobody Wants This.” Even the creator said she cast Brody partly for that reason.
“Nobody Wants This” was created by Erin Foster, the co-creative head of the dating app Bumble, daughter of Grammy-winning record producer David Foster, and creator of the series “Barely Famous.”
“We auditioned every hot Jewish guy in town,” Foster told the New York Times.
“It’s obvious,” she added about casting Brody. “I mean, he was always cute, but he’s now this very hot adult man. It felt really exciting to show him as this adult version of Seth Cohen.”
Brody and Bell share a steamy kiss in the second episode that had the internet aflame.
“Had me blushing,” one fan commented on X, formerly Twitter, posting footage of the kissing scene between Brody and Bell.
“I haven’t seen such natural and scintillating chemistry between two leads in a rom-com in a really long time. Adam Brody and Kristen Bell together just work,” another viewer gushed.
And it turns out, not even Shepard was immune to a swoon.
“Even I can acknowledge watching it, like, ‘Whoa, that’s hot,’” Bell told E! News.
She added about Shepard, “My husband said the same thing. Like, watching the first episode he was like, ‘Oh my God, I want you to kiss him so badly.’ “
