Timothée Chalamania hit New York this weekend as a lookalike contest took place with the real Hollywood icon crashing the competition… and not winning.
The 28-year-old actor – best known for his roles in Wonka, Dune, and Call Me By Your Name – made a surprise appearance at a Timothée Chalamet lookalike event hosted by YouTube personality Anthony Po
The Bones And All star rocked up to the contest flanked by security guards and posed for probably the most bizarre photos to ever exist with dozens of his doppelgängers.
In an even stranger twist, Chalamet himself looked almost unrecognisable as he sported an uncharacteristic moustache and a lighter colour on his curly locks.
Variety reported that the Hollywood icon, who is dating Kylie Jenner, infiltrated the crowd hiding behind a mask before shocking two lookalikes posing for photos.
As well as bearing a likeness to the actor, entrants were quizzed on their romantic intentions with Jenner, and their French language skills, to see which Chalamet clone would come out on top.
The grand $50 (£38.54) prize was taken home by Miles Mitchell, a 21-year-old Chalame-alike from Staten Island dressed as his iconic Willy Wonka character.
Chalamet himself turning up to the event was not the only unlikely occurrence as the organisers of the contest received a $500 (£385.50)fine for hosting the ‘unpermitted costume contest’, and in a separate incident, one person was seen being led away in handcuffs.
Police moved on the crowd of hundreds that had gathered at Washington Square Park, with thousands RSVPing to the original event.
‘It started off as a silly joke and now it’s turned pandemonium,’ said Paige Nguyen, part of the organisation team, to AP.
Chalamet will next hit our screens in the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, in which he stars as the Blowin’ In The Wind hitmaker.
The trailer for the upcoming film left fans stunned as they first heard Chalamet sing Dylan’s iconic hit A Hard Rain’s A‐Gonna Fall.
A Complete Unknown will follow the now-reclusive musician Dylan from a 19-year-old and his ‘meteoric rise as a folk singer to concert halls and the top of the charts’ up to the singer’s electric rock and roll performance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965.
The cast also includes Monica Barbaro, Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, and Bob Holbrook.
Chalamet will also appear in sports drama Marty Supreme alongside Gwyneth Paltrow, with the duo locking lips in a particularly steamy scene during filming.
Paltrow’s return to the big screen marks the end of her five-year acting hiatus, something she reportedly only agreed to because of Timothee himself.
