Francesco Totti insists he is serious about coming out of retirement at the age of 48 and claims he has been approached by two Serie A clubs.

The Roma legend finished his playing career in 2017 having made 786 appearances for the Serie A club.

Earlier this week, Totti revealed that he has been contemplating a comeback and believes he is still capable of playing in the Italian top flight.

‘It also depends on where you play, with all due respect, but if I were to return to Serie A I would have to train really well,’ Totti said.

‘With the level of today’s Serie A I could easily have my say on the pitch. I’d be ready in two to three months. I’m still playing at 48. Half an hour, twenty minutes.’

Totti is currently in Miami playing in the World Legends Padel Tour and is due to play in the finals in Dubai next month.

When asked on Sunday if fans will see him in Dubai before returning to Serie A, Totti said: ‘Let’s say I have time to do the Padel finals, they are at the end of November. At least two months of training are needed, that’s the time.’

When asked if he was joking when he revealed his plan to return to football, Totti replied: ‘No, it’s not a joke. I took it a bit seriously, so let’s see.

‘There are one or two teams. Let’s see what my head tells me, but above all my body. Let’s see how it reacts.

‘My head already knows the answer. Who knows what next year will bring us.’
