‘Valérie Plante fixed the Valérie Plante problem’ | The Corner Booth

‘She’s not tequila — she can’t make everybody happy.’

“Maybe Montreal isn’t as broken as social media suggests,” says Martin Patriquin.

On this episode of The Corner Booth Martine St-Victor and Patriquin join Bill Brownstein and Aaron Rand to consider whether or not Montreal really had a “Valérie Plante problem.”

In true Montreal fashion, the panel was tensely split on bike paths but everyone agreed that being the mayor of the most complicated city in Canada is “brutal.”

“Eventually we’re going to have to recognize what she’s done,” says St-Victor in defence of the mayor and reminds Montrealers that “there’s a trickle-up effect” of a good mayor that we shouldn’t take for granted.

Will we soon be suffering from a case of ‘you don’t know what you have until it’s gone’?
