“Naked and Afraid” star Sarah Danser died Tuesday after being involved in a car crash in Hawaii. She was 34.
Honolulu police confirmed to local news outlet KSLA News 12 that the car accident occurred in Kahala, Hawaii, on Oct. 20.
Per authorities, the survivalist had been seated in the passenger seat of a car when the 59-year-old male driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a parked car.
Cops confirmed that speed appeared to be a factor in the collision and not drugs or alcohol.
Following the accident, Danser was hospitalized in critical condition while the driver was in serious condition.
A woman in the parked car was also transported to a medical center in serious condition.
Sarah’s father, Dan Danser, and her brother, Jake Danser, arrived at the hospital on Tuesday; however, Danser succumbed to her injuries later that day.
Her family members shared that Sarah was wearing lei, scarves and bandanas given to her by close friends at the time of her passing.
“Magical is the way to describe her. Sarah had this positive energy about her that just really filled the environment that she was in,” Jake told the outlet.
Her grieving father also recalled “how much of a difference” Sarah made “in the lives of others.”
“I think she saved my life once, diving in Indonesia,” Dan shared.
The Hawaii-based company where Danser worked, Island Divers Hawaii, is working with her family to hold an ocean memorial for the late master diver.
Sarah, who survived breast cancer twice, lived part-time on a boat at Kewalo Basin and was known for adventuring around the globe.
She appeared on Discovery’s “Naked and Afraid” in 2017 and the spin-off titled “Naked and Afraid XL” a year later. Most recently, she starred in “Fight to Survive.”
The boat captain hailed from Castle Rock, Colo., and had been living in Hawaii for about 12 years.
“She was smart. She went under the water. She found food, slugs and snails and stuff like that,” her diving buddy, Tim Mason, told KSLA. “She knew what to do to survive and she did great.”
Sarah’s final social media post, shared on Oct. 11, showed the adventurer doing what she loved most: exploring the seas on a boat with a big smile on her face.
She described herself in her Instagram bio as a “pirate.”
