Taylor Trammell wins, regardless of whether the Yankees or Dodgers triumph in the World Series.
The former first-round pick in the 2016 MLB Draft spent five games each with both World Series participants this year, which sets him up to receive a World Series ring for his contributions.
MLB teams reward players who contributed to their championship runs, no matter how big — think Aaron Judge — or small — think Trammell’s two plate appearances.
“Because I’m with the Yankees now, I completely forgot,” Trammell, who finished the season in Triple-A with the Yankees, told The Athletic. “If the Dodgers win it, I can get a ring as well.”
The marathon of the MLB season means teams have to rely on players like Trammell, who could be labeled as a Quad-A player, throughout the year to help contribute.
Championship organizations then reward said players when the year is over.
Trammell appeared in all of 10 games this season between the two World Series participants and made just eight plate appearances.
The No. 35 pick in the 2016 Draft actually played for the Mariners during spring training but the team designated him for assignment after he failed to make their Opening Day roster.
That’s when the Dodgers swooped in to claim him.
Trammell first played for the team April 5 and last appeared on April 15.
He made just one start in his short stint, going 0-for-6 with three strikeouts.

The Dodgers also designated him for assignment to make room for prospect Andy Pages, who appeared in 116 games this season.
The Yankees then claimed Trammell, jettisoning Kevin Smith from their 40-man roster to do so.
The 27-year-old received even less runway in The Bronx, receiving just two plate appearances and going 1-for-1 spanning five games from April 20 to May 3.
The Yankees designated Trammell for assignment to open up a roster spot for the returning John Berti, but this time he went unclaimed and the Yankees outrighted him to Triple-A Scranon.
The outfielder spent the rest of the year in the minors, appearing in 106 games with the RailRiders while slashing .259/.381/.488 and hitting 18 homers and driving in 63 runs.
Trammell ultimately went 1-for-7 with eight plate appearances in the majors in 2024.
“I get a ring now and that’s such a cool thing to say. For me, this is so awesome because I can say I’m a World Series champion now,” Trammell told The Athletic.
“The next step is to be a World Series champion, and being there when it’s won. That’s the next goal.”
