The survey results suggest the past three years in office have considerably eroded Plante’s popularity. In the 2021 municipal election, Plante won more than 52 per cent of the ballots cast in a vote that saw 38.3 per cent of eligible voters cast their ballots.
A breakdown of the poll results suggests that younger respondents favoured a third term by Plante, as did middle class and less wealthy respondents. More than half of respondents earning more than $100,000 a year opposed another four years of a Plante administration. The higher a respondent’s salary, the more likely they were to oppose her candidacy.
