Nelly Furtado has revealed she once asked Liam Gallagher if he ‘would be interested in marrying her’.
The Canadian singer, 45, is best known for her 00s hits including I’m Like a Bird, Promiscuous and Maneater.
Nelly was most recently in a relationship with rapper Hodgy but revealed earlier this year she was now single.
However, years ago, she attempted to strike up a romance with Oasis star Liam, now 52.
Her approach is revealed on tonight’s episode of Never Mind the Buzzcocks.
Wearing an Oasis T-shirt, Nelly is probed by host Greg Davies, who begins by sharing: ‘Let’s stick with people we fancy though, because Nelly Furtado has a got unusual British person that she’s had a long-time crush on.
‘She wrote to him to ask if he would be interested in marrying her when she was a young woman.’
Speaking up, Nelly then explained what she’d done to try and get her crush’s attention.
‘I did send two fan letters to Liam Gallagher, and I think I sent a photo,’ she said while looking somewhat embarrassed as the audience laughed.
Jokingly adding that they’d contacted Liam for comment, Greg teased the truth and said Liam had said he was ‘still mad for it’.
Although Nelly’s attempt to romance Liam didn’t quite work, Lily Allen recently spoke about her dalliance with the younger Gallagher brother.
Earlier this year Lily, 33, revealed she had a mile high club romp with Liam on the way to Japan in 2009 for the Fuji Rock Festival after getting drunk mid-flight.
In an excerpt from her book My Thoughts Exactly, Lily explained: ‘We got hammered on the plane. At some point Liam and I found ourselves together in the toilet doing something that he shouldn’t have been doing, and it wasn’t drugs. Then we were in a lie-down bed together.
‘When we landed in Tokyo, Liam said, in his distinctive nasal twang, “What you doing now? Why don’t you come back to our hotel”… I was like, “Yeah, OK”.’
However soon after Lily was shocked to discover he was still married to Nicole Appleton.
