Jenna Ternan was managing the Northumberland Pharmacy when she was charged on Feb. 28, 2023. Her pharmacy licence was suspended soon after.
A suspended Saskatoon pharmacist accused in the trafficking of 700 Oxycodone pills has been committed to stand trial on seven drug and weapon-related charges.
Jenna Ternan’s preliminary hearing was scheduled for Oct. 16 in Saskatoon provincial court. According to court information, lawyers consented to send her to the trial stage at Court of King’s Bench on two charges each of trafficking and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
She had previously been committed to trial on charges of possessing the proceeds of crime over $5,000, unsafe storage of a firearm and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
Police said they began investigating in January 2023 after pills seized at three locations were traced back to Ternan and the pharmacy. Officers found 20,285 grams of methamphetamine, 8,040 grams of cannabis and hundreds of Oxycodone pills. Three men were charged.
An initial review of the pharmacy’s records from September 2022 to January 2023 showed more than 24,000 Schedule 1 narcotics unaccounted for from the pharmacy’s inventory, police said in a news release.
According to police, subsequent searches, including at the pharmacy, revealed documents and pharmacy records, Hydromophone Contin 18 capsules, Dextroamphetamine capsules, Dilaudid capsules, a coffee grinder “covered in white powder residue,” labels from pharmaceutical bottles, a 2018 Honda Fit and a bolt-action .22 calibre firearm.
The Saskatchewan College of Pharmacy Professionals confirmed that Ternan’s licence and the pharmacy’s permit to operate were suspended. The College said it would conduct its own investigation.
